Seth Shostak (born July 20, 1943) is the senior astronomer at the SETI Institute and one of the most prominent scientific voices in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. As a frequent guest on late-night radio, he has provided a mainstream scientific perspective on the possibility of alien life, offering a counterbalance to more speculative claims while maintaining an optimistic view that contact may come within this century.
