Edward Yourdon (1944–2016) was a pioneering software engineer and best-selling author recognized both for his seminal contributions to structured programming methodology and for his role as one of the most prominent voices warning about the potential catastrophic effects of the Y2K computer bug. As a guest on late-night radio, his book Time Bomb 2000, co-authored with his daughter Jennifer, provided technically informed analysis of Year 2000 risks that profoundly influenced public preparedness discussions.
