Travis Walton and Mike Rogers recount the most thoroughly documented UFO abduction case in history, the 1975 incident on Arizona's Mogollon Rim. Mike Rogers, the logging crew boss, describes the moment his team encountered a glowing disc hovering above the forest floor and watched in horror as a beam of energy struck Travis, hurling him through the air like a ragdoll. Rogers details the panicked flight down the mountain road, the agonizing decision to return, and finding no trace of Travis at the scene, not even footprints leading away.

Travis describes regaining consciousness aboard the craft, surrounded by small beings with enormous eyes, his desperate fight to escape through cramped corridors, and a disorienting encounter with a star map room. He recalls being led by a helmeted, human-looking figure into a vast domed hangar containing multiple disc-shaped craft before being sedated by other human-appearing beings. Five days later, he awoke on a highway near his hometown with no memory of most of the missing time.

The episode reveals critical details absent from the Hollywood film, including updated polygraph results where all participants scored near theoretical maximums, anomalous tree growth rates 36 times above normal at the encounter site, and elevated radiation and magnetic readings. Travis also confirms that government agents contacted him multiple times in efforts to discredit the case.

Key Moments

  1. Glowing disc hovering 20 feet above the logging road: Travis Walton and Mike Rogers describe the November 1975 sighting on the Mogollon Rim: a 20-to-30-foot glowing disc hovering about 20 feet off the ground, with Travis getting out of the truck and walking toward it while the rest of the crew yelled at him to get away.

  2. The beam strike and Travis flying through the air: Travis recounts feeling a shock pass through his body and losing consciousness; Mike, watching from the truck, sees a blinding flash, a beam witnesses described as a bolt of lightning, and Travis flying limp through the air with arms outstretched, landing on his back.

  3. Five days, six hours, and waking up among creatures: Mike confirms Travis was missing five days, six hours; Travis recounts coming to in pain on a hard raised surface under a metal-looking ceiling, with an object across his chest, and seeing humanoid creatures with large bald heads and huge eyes that he found unbearable to look at.

  4. Grabbing a tube to fight off the beings: Travis describes pushing the small (~four-foot) creatures back with a desperate shove, grabbing a long clear cylinder from a bench of utensils to defend himself, and the beings turning and walking out of the room with their hands outstretched.
