AstronomyMarsPlanetary Science

Dr. Tom Van Flandern (1940–2009) was a distinguished astronomer and former Chief of Celestial Mechanics at the U.S. Naval Observatory, known for his provocative "Exploded Planet Hypothesis" and his analysis of anomalous features on Mars. As a guest on late-night radio, he challenged mainstream astrophysics with rigorously argued alternative theories about planetary origins, the speed of gravity, and evidence for artifacts on the Martian surface.
