John McAfee (September 18, 1945 - June 23, 2021) was a British-American computer programmer and entrepreneur who founded McAfee Associates in 1987, creating one of the first commercial antivirus software programs. As a controversial public figure and guest on late-night radio, he became known for his outspoken views on cybersecurity, government surveillance, cryptocurrency advocacy, and his turbulent later years living as a self-described fugitive across Central America and beyond.
