Jim Berkland (1930–2016) was a geologist and former Santa Clara County geologist who developed an unconventional method of earthquake prediction based on the correlation between tidal forces, lunar cycles, and anomalous animal behavior - particularly spikes in missing pet reports. As a guest on late-night radio, he successfully predicted several seismic events, challenging the mainstream geological assertion that earthquakes are inherently unpredictable.
