Stephen LaBerge (born 1947) is a psychophysiologist and pioneering lucid dreaming researcher who, as a graduate student at Stanford University, became the first scientist to provide empirical evidence that conscious awareness during dreaming is a verifiable phenomenon. As the founder of the Lucidity Institute, he developed induction techniques such as the "MILD" method and authored Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, establishing the scientific and practical framework for an entire field of consciousness research.
