Paul W. Dixon was a professor of psychology at the University of Hawaii at Hilo who discussed high-energy particle-collider safety with Art Bell. Dixon argued that accelerator experiments could trigger a catastrophic transition into what he called de Sitter space. He also said on air that he had been nominated for a Nobel Prize about three times; the archive attributes both the nomination statement and the collider-risk theory to Dixon.
