Benjamin Creme (1922–2016) was a Scottish artist and esotericist recognized for his decades-long promotion of the imminent emergence of Maitreya, whom he described as a world teacher from the spiritual hierarchy destined to guide humanity into a new age of peace and sharing. On Art Bell's programs, his unwavering proclamations about Maitreya's presence and his elaborate cosmology drawn from the Theosophical tradition made him one of the most distinctive spiritual voices of the era.
