October 29, 1995: Black Helicopters - Linda Moulton Howe | Ghost Investigators - Dave Oester & Sharon Gill
Dave Oester and Sharon Gill, authors of Twilight Visitors, join Art Bell to discuss their hands-on approach to ghost investigation. The couple began researching after moving into a haunted house in Seaside, Oregon, where an unplugged radio with no batteries played Waltzing Matilda repeatedly on their first night. They describe capturing ghostly images on film, including a tornado-shaped energy vortex that cast its own shadow on a wall, and detecting electromagnetic anomalies jumping from normal background levels to readings four hundred percent higher in basketball-sized areas.
The investigators share their findings from the Liberty Theater in Astoria, Oregon, haunted by three spirits including a 1930s figure named Paul who appears in a white tuxedo and Panama hat.
Key Moments
Phil Leroy: three silent black helicopters at 50 feet over Red Bluff: Linda Howe presents Red Bluff, California heavy-equipment operator Phil Leroy's eyewitness account from three nights after the Susanville cattle mutilations. Walking his dogs around midnight he saw three large dark shapes against a moonless sky, two of which then passed directly over him at less than 250 feet away and only 50 feet off the deck - silent except for the gust of air, with no port/starboard lights, no safety beacons, no strobes, and no markings, while his dogs spooked and bolted for the house.
Helicopters hover 45 seconds over the same family's cattle: Leroy describes the helicopters traveling 150-200 yards south, stopping in midair, going to a hover for approximately 45 seconds, then nose-down accelerating away at high speed. Howe confirms the hover was over cattle owned by the same family who found the two mutilated cows at their Susanville pasture three days earlier on October 16th.
Colorado sheriff's 'morphing helicopters' theory: Howe relays a Colorado sheriff's view from her A Strange Harvest documentary research: that the dark, silent helicopters that appear over mutilation pastures - and which in some cases dissolved into clouds - might be camouflage used by a non-human intelligence. He told Howe he and other law-enforcement officers had concluded they were dealing with creatures not from this planet, and that no helicopter design he could find anywhere matched what he had seen.
